Would you rather cheat in class and get it right or know you got it wrong?
Fear is about the future, so fear is not real. Do you agree or disagree
How can you show or prove your love to someone?
Have you ever had to show or prove your love to someone?
God loves you. Thats what I know.
The story of Jesus and the fish story. throw your net on the other side. Then Jesus at with the disciples. Reminder this is during the 40 days after death.
John 21: 15-19 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Again, Jesus said, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
What does "do you love me?" mean in this context? Does it refer to a personal affection or a commitment to serve?
Why is a commitment to serve important here?
Why is this important to us?
Why does Jesus ask Peter the question three times, and how does this relate to Peter's previous denial?
What is the meaning of "feed my sheep" in this passage?
18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
Reflection and Application:
How does this passage speak to the concept of forgiveness and restoration?
Can you relate to Peter's experience of failure and recovery?
How can you apply the call to serve others, as exemplified by Peter in this passage, to your own life and relationships?
What does this passage teach us about the nature of discipleship and our role in spreading the message of Jesus?
Jesus makes feeding His disciples through His apostles' words a major priority. What does this mean for us as we wait for Jesus' return?
How does this affect the kind of church you seek to be a part of?
How does this affect the way you use your gifts and your time?
Do you ever feel like Peter and wonder why God seems to have chosen a harder path for you to walk?
Do you think you can trust God when He says to you "Follow Me"?
How can you take steps in walking your own path after Jesus, rather than wishing you were walking someone elses
Did peter Listen to Jesus?
Do you think Peter was afraid of his new journey?
